We are pleased to announce that the European University Institute Library has joined the CEU Press Opening the Future initiative. Founded in 1976 and with over 1000 PhD students and postdoctoral fellows, the EUI is a leading institute in Europe dedicated to the research of social sciences and humanities.
Students and staff at the EUI will get DRM-free, unlimited access to 50 eBooks in the History package, 50 eBooks in the Political Science package, and 50 eBooks in the Editor's Choice Package. After three years of membership, the Institute will retain perpetual access to all these books.
Professor Martin Paul Eve, a work package lead on COPIM, said of the new member: “It is fantastic to have the support of the EUI for the Opening the Future project. With this funding, we will advance the cause of OA books in the humanities and social sciences, without author-facing charges.”
CEU Press will use the Library’s membership fees to produce new frontlist titles in an open access format - that is, entirely without barriers to access and freely available to read by anyone in the world. CEU Press is a leading publisher in the history of communism and transitions to democracy; it is widely recognised as the foremost English-language university press dedicated to research on Central and Eastern Europe and the former communist countries.
If you would like to see how your library might similarly enhance their digital collection of eBooks by becoming a member of Opening the Future (OtF), you can read more about the programme and benefits on the website.
