University of Cambridge renews membership of Opening the Future at CEU Press

CEU Press are thrilled to announce that the University of Cambridge has renewed their initial three year membership of their Opening the Future programme.

Cambridge University Libraries have opted to support the press’ OA commitment by selecting the OA Supporter Package that comes without extra backlist books. But as with all CEU Press Opening the Future members, the fees will go towards only funding new frontlist titles in OA format.

Through their previous membership, staff and students at Cambridge now have perpetual access to 150 eBooks on subjects including the Russia-Ukraine war and its historical, political and cultural context, and a broad selection on the socio-political and historical realities of Central and Eastern Europe. Through the programme, the libraries have enhanced their eBook collection with titles relevant to the university’s research and teaching needs - and at the same time their membership fees are funding new frontlist titles in OA format. To date, CEU Press has been able to publish c.35 new OA books through library member investment like Cambridge’s, with around the same number of books again funded and in the publishing pipeline. The Press could not have achieved this without libraries like Cambridge and we are very grateful for their ongoing support.

If you would like to see how your library might similarly enhance your digital collection by becoming a member of Opening the Future, you can read more about the programme, and sign up in just a few clicks at ceup.openingthefuture.net or sign up directly via Lyrasis or Jisc through your normal invoicing workflow.
