CEU Press is delighted to announce that the University of Groningen Library is the latest to subscribe to our Opening the Future collective funding programme. Established in 1614, the University has a long history and outstanding alumni include the first Dutch woman to complete a university degree (Aletta Jacobs), as well as the first Dutch astronaut, and several Nobel prize winners.

Under the terms of the subscription, staff and students at Groningen will get unlimited, perpetual access to 100 eBooks on the history, politics, economics, and social and cultural changes of Central and Eastern Europe. In return, CEU Press will use their subscription fees to fund new open access books, to be made freely available globally.

A spokesperson for the Library at the University of Groningen said “We are thrilled to support Opening the Future. We hope that this approach can set an example for existing university presses around the world of how a sustainable and affordable transition to open access is possible for monographs too.”

If you would like to see how your library might similarly enhance your digital collection of eBooks by becoming a member of Opening the Future (OtF), you can read more about the programme and benefits on CEU Press’s OtF website.
