CEU Press are pleased to announce that Australian National University Library are now subscribing members of their Opening the Future programme.

By signing up they have augmented their local collection with a package of 50 books in Political Science. This means that their staff and students now have unlimited, DRM-free access to 50 eBooks on subjects ranging from human rights, to Slavic studies, European economics, and post-communist regimes.

As with all members, ANU have increased their online book collection with titles relevant to the university’s research and teaching needs - and at the same time their membership fees are funding new frontlist titles in OA format. Through the generous support of member libraries like ANU all over the world, CEU Press has already been able to publish 12 new OA books, with another 5 in production and 40+ funded and forthcoming over the next three years.

Their OA books are freely available for download from Project MUSE, OAPEN, JSTOR and other open platforms. You can read about - and find links to - all the OA books on our progress page: ceup.openingthefuture.net/forthcoming

If you would like to see how your library might similarly enhance your digital collection by becoming a member of Opening the Future, you can read more about the programme, and sign up in just a few clicks at ceup.openingthefuture.net

Opening the Future is an affordable collective membership/subscription model for libraries, broadening your collections and funding further open access publishing.

Building on library journal subscription models and successful book membership programmes, the model funds new open access (OA) books that are available to everyone. By leveraging the collective contributions of academic libraries worldwide, we're reshaping how knowledge is funded and accessed. By joining Opening the Future, your library gains valuable benefits and no single institution bears a disproportionate burden. For a modest annual fee your library gets DRM-free, unlimited access to a selection of a publisher's backlist, with perpetual access after three years. The membership revenue is used by the publisher solely to produce new OA monographs, moving towards an affordable, sustainable model for academic publishing.
